Paste Shaver ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and service at Paste Shaver. Please read this policy carefully.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Paste Content: Text, code snippets, and files you upload. Public pastes are accessible to anyone with the link. Private pastes are encrypted with your PIN using AES-256-GCM encryption.
  • Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and a hashed (bcrypt) password. We never store passwords in plain text.
  • Chat Messages: If you use our group chat feature, messages are stored on our servers.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Log Data: We collect anonymized activity logs including truncated IP addresses (first 3 octets only, e.g., "192.168.1.x"), browser type (truncated), and action type. We do NOT log full IP addresses.
  • Cookies & Sessions: We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

We do NOT: Use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party analytics tracking. We do not sell your data.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the pastebin service
  • To allow you to save, manage, and share pastes
  • To send important service-related emails (e.g., password reset)
  • To prevent abuse, spam, and illegal content
  • To improve service performance and reliability
  • To respond to DMCA takedown requests

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • All passwords are hashed with bcrypt (never stored in plain text)
  • Private pastes are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage
  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit
  • Non-privileged application user with minimal filesystem permissions

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention & Auto-Deletion

Paste content is retained based on the expiration setting you choose at creation time (15 minutes to never). Expired pastes are automatically deleted. You may delete your own pastes at any time from your dashboard. Account deletion removes all associated pastes and data.

6. Public Content

Public pastes are visible to anyone and may be indexed by search engines. Do not post sensitive personal information, credentials, or private data in public pastes. Use the PIN-protection (private) feature for sensitive content.

7. Third-Party Services

We load the following third-party resources:

  • cdnjs.cloudflare.com – Syntax highlighting library (highlight.js)
  • cdn.jsdelivr.net – Chart.js (admin panel only)
  • unpkg.com – CodeMirror editor

These are static asset CDNs and do not track users. No social media SDKs or advertising networks are loaded.

8. DMCA & Content Removal

We respond to valid DMCA takedown requests. See our DMCA Policy for details on how to report infringing content.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data

  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Export your pastes
